Authorizing File Locations
A file transfer location is an external public cloud file storage location or FTP site used to transfer files to or from Marketing Cloud Engagement. For example, to import encrypted files from an Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) bucket, you set up an Amazon S3 file location. The location settings give authorization details to access the files in your bucket.
Here are the supported file location types.
| Location Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, or Microsoft Azure Blob Storage | Transfer files directly to or from your external cloud storage location. Direct transfer can be faster than Enhanced FTP and offers more granular control over file and folder permissions. |
| Marketing Cloud Engagement Enhanced FTP Site | Transfer files to or from the default Import and Export directories or any other subfolder of the Enhanced FTP. |
| Marketing Cloud Engagement Safehouse | Decrypt or encrypt files before import or extract without exposing these files to the Enhanced FTP directories. Only authenticated users can access the Safehouse, which resides on highly redundant, highly available central storage servers. |
| External FTP, SFTP, or FTPS | Transfer files from your own FTP, SFTP, or FTPS site. |
| Salesforce Objects and Reports | Import Salesforce objects or reports into a data extension. |
- Set Up an Amazon Simple Storage Service File Location
Import and export files with Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3). Transferring files from Amazon S3 is faster than transferring them from the Enhanced FTP server that’s built in to Marketing Cloud Engagement. You can fine-tune access to buckets and folders, and manage data access with an AWS Access Key or IAM role. - Set Up a Google Cloud Storage File Location in Marketing Cloud Engagement
Import and export files with Google Cloud Storage. Directly transferring files from Google Cloud Storage is faster than transferring them from the Enhanced FTP server that’s built in to Marketing Cloud Engagement. - Set Up a Microsoft Azure Blob Storage File Location in Marketing Cloud Engagement
Transferring files directly from Microsoft Azure is faster than transferring files from the Enhanced FTP server that’s built in to Marketing Cloud Engagement. You can grant Marketing Cloud Engagement access to your cloud storage through Microsoft Azure Directory or Shared Access Signatures. - Set Up an Enhanced FTP or Safehouse File Location
Transfer files to and from Marketing Cloud Engagement using a file location with Enhanced FTP. Available locations are the import directory, export directory, a subfolder, or the Safehouse. Files stored in Enhanced FTP and the Safehouse are available for 21 days and then deleted. - Perform a File Transfer to a Safehouse Location
When you import an encrypted file with your Marketing Cloud Engagement safehouse location set as the default location, follow these steps to perform an encrypted file transfer - Set Up an External FTP File Location with Marketing Cloud Engagement
Transfer files with an external FTP, SFTP, or FTPS site using a file location. The file location contains the site URL, port, and login details that Marketing Cloud Engagement uses to access your site.
