Before you begin, map customer data from your app with the required Data Model Objects (DMOs). For the data model object mappings used by this trigger, see DMO Mappings for First Purchase Anniversary Trigger.

  1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Marketing Features, and then select Triggers.
  2. In the First Purchase Anniversary trigger, click Manage Configuration.
  3. From the trigger configuration page, turn on the trigger.
  4. In the Map Data to Data Model Objects (DMOs) section, verify that all required DMOs are mapped with your customer data.
A check mark next to the DMO indicates that it's mapped correctly.
  5. In Day of First Message Send, set Days Before Anniversary to the number of days before the anniversary to send the first message.
Enter 0 to send the message on the purchase anniversary. Specify a value from 1 through 60 days to send it earlier.
  6. Set the Send Time for the message.
Send time uses your org's default time zone. Every eligible customer receives the message at this time.
  7. In the Select Channels section, select one or more channels to send trigger messages, such as Email, SMS or RCS, or WhatsApp.
Make sure that the relevant channels are set up in the org and the Contact Point DMOs are mapped.

After setup, marketers can use the First Purchase Anniversary automation event in flows. This event includes individual, purchase, and contact context in the flow resource. Available fields are: Engagement date, Individual ID, First Name, Last Name, First Purchase Date, Email Address, SMS and RCS Number, and WhatsApp Number.

To build a flow quickly, use the First Purchase Anniversary flow template. See Create a Flow for Your Triggers from a Template.
