Important
Important If you enabled Marketing Cloud Next before April 2026, you must turn on Custom Preference Pages before you can create a page.

Create a Preference Page

Marketing Cloud Next includes an email preference page by default. For each additional channel that you use, create a preference page to use as the default page for that channel. Default pages are used when you include the Preference Manager link in a message. You can create multiple pages per channel and use them as needed, but one page must always be the default.

  1. From the Content tab, open your preferred marketing workspace.
  2. Select Add | Content | Preference Pages | Create
  3. Select the Subscription List component and configure the settings.
    1. Select a channel for the page, such as email.
    2. If needed, filter by business unit. For more information, see Assign a Communication Subscription to Business Units.
  4. To add a component, select it in the component tree and drag it onto the canvas.
You can update the styles and settings for any content block, but you can’t remove the Subscription List or Submit Buttons.
  5. When you're done, save your work.
  6. To make the page available to use, click Publish.

To use the page in a message, insert the page link as a merge field in the content editor. You can edit the preference page at any time, or make it the default page for a channel.

Edit a Preference Page

Update a preference page from the Content tab, or from the Consent tab. Changes don’t take effect until you publish the preference page.

  1. Open a preference page for editing.
    1. From the Consent tab, select Preference Pages.
    2. From the Content tab, select your marketing workspace.
  2. For the preference page you want to update, click Edit.
  3. To edit subscription options, click the Subscription List content block. Then, update the subscriptions from the Settings tab.
  4. To add a component, select it in the component tree and drag it onto the canvas.
You can update the styles and settings for any content block, but you can’t remove the Subscription List or Submit Buttons.
  5. When you're done, save your work.

After you publish, the changes are live on your preference page. If you use the page in any message sends, subscribers can view the updated page.

Set a Custom Preference Page as the Default Channel Page

For each messaging channel that you use for marketing messages, designate a default preference page. This page is the page subscribers see when you use the Preference Manager link in an email.

  1. From the Consent tab, select Preference Pages.
  2. For the published preference page that you want to use, open the dropdown, and select Set as Default.
  3. Review the channel and the business unit for the page, and then click Set as Default.
