Coupon Types
Coupons are of these two types:
- Single-Code: A coupon with one code tied to one promotion.
- Multi-Code: A coupon list that contains multiple codes.
You can create coupons of multi-code type in Marketing Cloud Next.
A coupon's type is set when you create the coupon, and you can't change it later. The Type field appears only when your org is set up for both Commerce and Marketing apps.
Permission Sets for Coupon Lists
Users with the System Administrator profile, the Marketing Cloud Admin permission set, or Marketing Cloud Manager permission set can see all coupon lists. These same users can create, edit, and delete coupon lists, subject to the business unit rules.
Business Unit Access for Coupon Lists
This table shows who can view, modify, or delete coupon lists based on your business unit setup.
| Business Unit Setup | Who Can View | Who Can Modify or Delete |
|---|---|---|
| You haven't enabled business units | Users with the required permission sets can view all coupon lists. | Users with the required permission sets can modify or delete any coupon list, regardless of who created it. |
| You've enabled business units | Users with the required permission sets can view all coupon lists, regardless of business unit. | Users with the required permission sets can modify or delete a coupon list only if they belong to the business unit assigned to that coupon list. |
After business units are enabled, you can't change the business unit assigned to a coupon list. You can't deactivate a business unit while coupon lists reference it.
