Marketing Object Data Types and Resource Allocations

Marketing Object Data Types and Resource Allocations

When you create a marketing object, you can select from three supported data types to match your data requirements. Understanding the available data types and system storage capacity helps you design marketing objects that support your business needs while maintaining system performance.

          Required Editions

Salesforce Enterprise and Unlimited Editions with Marketing Cloud Next Growth or Advanced Edition

          Supported Data Types

When you specify a field in a marketing object, select one of these data types. Unlike data extensions in Marketing Cloud Engagement, you can’t change the maximum length of a field in a marketing object.

          Data Type Description
Text A string that contains up to 255 characters.
Number A positive or negative integer with up to 18 digits.
Decimal A positive or negative decimal number with up to 18 digits.

          Resource Allocations

Each org has allocated usage capacity for marketing objects. These allocations ensure consistent performance and reliability across all your marketing activities.

          Resource Allocation Details
          Storage size

The allocation depends on your edition:

          • Growth: 10 GB
          • Advanced: 40 GB
When you approach the maximum value, the system notifies you so that you can free up storage space.
          Number of marketing objects

The allocation depends on your edition:

          • Growth: 25 marketing objects
          • Advanced: 100 marketing objects
When you approach the maximum, the system notifies you so that you delete old or unused objects.
