Example: Product Order with Offer

The engagement signal considered in this example, monitors and tracks catalog product (object) order engagement where a promotion is applied at checkout. Use this engagement signal when you define a custom objective that recommends promotions or related offers based on a customer's product interests.

When you configure this engagement signal, the system creates a default product order count metric that you can use in custom objectives.

When Item Identifier is a Promotion Id, you can use the engagement signal metric to recommend content from the Promotions DMO or the related child DMOs for Offer and Offer Treatment. For this recommendation to work, make sure both DMOs share a database relationship and exist in an Item Data Graph. You can apply this multi-DMO strategy to any catalog data graph where content is split across multiple normalized DMOs.

For indirect signals, use the engagement signal metric to create a custom objective for your recommender. When you configure your recommender, add additional engagement signals that incorporate the product IDs as Item Identifier.
