Track Engagement with Personalized Content

Track Engagement with Personalized Content

To measure how customers interact with personalized content, configure engagement tracking on your connector. Tracking sends view, click, and dismiss events to Data 360 when users interact with personalized content. Configure tracking once per content schema, and it applies automatically to every personalization point that uses that schema.

User Permissions Needed
To configure engagement tracking on a connector: Data Cloud admin

This topic applies to both web and mobile personalization. Only Data 360 engagement events are supported. Profile, cart, and order events aren't supported. Tracking is configured per connector, because the connector handles event ingestion.

For mobile personalization, the corresponding tracking functionality must be implemented in your native components. The SDK configuration enables the tracking pipeline, but each component must call the tracking APIs for view, click, and dismiss events to be sent.

  • Your connector (web or mobile) is configured.
  • The Data 360 engagement event you want to track is set up.
  • The content schema for the personalization points you want to track is available.
  1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Data Cloud Setup, and then select Data Cloud Setup.
  2. Select Websites and Mobile Apps, and then select your connector.
  3. Select the Personalization tab.
  4. In Personalization Engagement Tracking, select Add Tracking Event.
  5. For Content Schema, select the content schema to apply this tracking configuration to.
  6. For Event Type, select the Data 360 engagement event to send when users interact with personalized content.
  7. If the Event Fields section appears, map each field to a value.
    1. For each field, set the Mapping Type.
Mapping Type When to Use Value
Content Schema Attribute Use a value from the content schema. Select the content schema attribute.
Action Use the action name (view, click, or dismiss). Set automatically.
Static Value Use a fixed value for every event. Enter the value to send.
    2. Required fields are marked Required. To add an optional field, select Add Event Field, and then select a field.
  8. To customize the API name or action names, expand Advanced Settings.
