Create a Mobile Experience Template

Create a Mobile Experience Template

Create an experience template to define how personalized content renders in your mobile app. A mobile template references a component registered in connector setup, which handles the native rendering. The template carries the content data the component displays.

User Permissions Needed
To create experience templates: Personalization Admin

Mobile experience templates work like web experience templates, except that instead of defining HTML, a mobile template selects a component from your connector setup.

  • The mobile connector exists, and the components for this template are registered in connector setup.
  • The mobile app supports the component this template references.
  • A content schema is available for the data this template uses.
  1. In the Personalization app, select Experience Templates, and then select New.
  2. Define the template properties.
    Field Action
Data Space Select the data space.
    Channel Select the mobile channel.
Experience Template Name Enter a name for the template.
Experience Template API Name Accept the default or enter a custom API name.
    Description (Optional) Enter a description.
Thumbnail Image (Optional) Upload a thumbnail. The thumbnail appears on the template selection card.
    State Set the initial state.
  3. Select Next.
  4. Select the mobile app connectors that can use this template, and then select Next.
  5. Choose the template type and creation method.
    1. For Experience Template Type for Mobile, select Mobile Component. The available components come from the components registered for this connector.
    2. For the creation method, select one of the following.
      Option When to Use
Global Template Start from a prebuilt mobile component reference and starter variables.
Blank Build from an empty template.
    3. If you selected Global Template, select a global template.
    4. Select Next.
  6. Define and map template variables.
    1. Select the default content schema. The content schema defines the data fields available to your template.
    2. Review or define your template variables. Variables act as placeholders that collect field values from the content schema.
      • If you use a global template, the variables list is pre-populated. Review or update the label and name for each variable.
      • If you start from a blank template, select Add Variable and enter a label and name for each.
    3. For each variable, set the Default Value to one of the following.
      Option When to Use
Content schema attribute Use a field from the content schema to populate this variable.
Static value Use a fixed value for every experience that uses this template.
    4. To control variable behavior for advanced cases, use the row options menu to set required, overwriteable, schema path, static value, or delete.
    5. Select Next.
  7. Enter the component name defined in your app code. The component handles how this template renders.
  8. Select Save to save the template, or select Save & Activate to make the template available for experiences immediately.

An active template appears in the template picker when business users create a personalization experience for this mobile channel.
