Set Up Email Carbon Copy in Unified Messaging

Set Up Email Carbon Copy in Unified Messaging

Set up email carbon copy (CC) for your marketers to send copies of emails to external and internal recipients. Both the primary recipients and the CC recipients can see who's copied on the message. Each email sent to a CC recipient consumes a Salesforce Message Credit, in addition to credits for the primary recipient.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Salesforce Enterprise and Unlimited Editions with Marketing Cloud Next Growth Edition or Advanced Edition
Not supported in Government Cloud Plus

For internal employees to receive CC emails, make sure that their email addresses are added to an authorized email domain for your organization. If authorized domains aren’t set, then all recipients are considered as external recipients.

You can send CC emails to these recipients.

          • External recipients: Copy stakeholders from the customer’s organization, such as an executive assistant or other staff. In this case, the primary recipient and CC recipients are from the same organization.
          • Internal recipients: Copy team members in emails to your customers. In this case, the primary recipient and CC recipients are from different organizations.
          1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Unified Messaging, and then select Send Settings.
          2. Configure CC for external recipients:
            1. Turn on email CC.
            2. Set the maximum number of CC recipients from 1 through 10.
              The default value is 5.
          3. Configure CC for internal recipients:
            1. Turn on internal recipients.
            2. Select whether to check consent for internal employees.

In Flow Builder, marketers can add CC addresses in the Send Email Message invocable action. See Send Email Message Marketing Flow Element.

          Note
Note If the email to the primary recipient isn’t sent, for example if the primary address has a hard bounce or lacks required consent, the CC recipients aren’t sent that message. However, if there’s a failure while sending emails to the primary recipient at run time, CC emails are sent.
