DNS Provider Behavior
DNS providers differ in how they handle domain naming conventions. Understanding these differences helps prevent configuration errors.
- DNS providers with guided experience automatically append your root domain to the CNAME Name field. When you paste the CNAME Name, the provider may show a warning or automatically remove your root domain from the input field. Confirm that the final saved record matches the full CNAME Name provided by Unified Messaging.
- Providers with verified experiences require you to enter the full name for the CNAME record but validate it to prevent conflicts. You must enter the complete CNAME Name as provided, including all subdomains and the root domain.
- WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) Experience providers allow any structurally correct DNS entries. Copy and paste the full CNAME Name and Value exactly as they appear in Unified Messaging.
