Request a Short Code Brand the United States and Canada
Procuring a US short code is a regulated process that ensures messaging security and compliance. Use the self-service registration flow to register your brand and secure a 5 or 6-digit short code.

Before you begin, collect this information.
- Locate your IRS Form SS-4. Your Legal Company Name and EIN should match this document to avoid instant rejection.
- Make sure that your website is live and includes a compliant privacy policy and terms of service.
- Identify an authorized support person who can access company email to complete the PIN verification.
- In Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Regulatory Compliance, and select Regulatory Compliance.
- On the Brands tab, click Register Brand.
- Select US Short Code for the brand type and then click Next.

Enter your company details.
- Enter your brand name and the Legal Company Name exactly as mentioned in your IRS documentation.
- For the Doing Business As field, enter an alternate brand name if it differs from your legal name.
- Select the Entity Type. Entity type is the legal structure that matches your tax registration.
- Select the Program Type that best describes your campaign.
- Enter your Stock Market Symbol if you're a public company. For example, OO.
- Enter the website URL that includes a privacy policy, and then click Next.

To increase your brand trust score, enter your business details.
- Enter your 9-digit Federal Tax ID. To avoid rejection, make sure that your tax ID matches your legal name.
- Enter an optional 9-digit identifier for Dun and Bradstreet (DUNS).
- Enter the Global Intermediary Identification Number (GIIN) number consisting of 19 characters.
- Enter the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) consisting of 20 characters, and then click Next.
- Enter the authorized support person’s full name, job title, phone number, email address, and then click Next.
- Select the Short Code Type and then click Submit.
After you submit these details, the authorized person receives an email from
verify@usshortcodes.com. Click the link in your email and enter the PIN on the Short
Code Registry or Aegis Mobile verification page. You must complete this process within 7 days of
receiving the email. If the PIN expires, you must request for another PIN manually.
You can review the progress of your request via status messages on the Regulatory Compliance page.
- New: Your request was submitted and is awaiting review.
- Pending Under Verification: Your brand purchase request is under review against government records.
- Waiting for Customer: Take action as required. The registration failed due to a name and tax ID mismatch, or your corporate website failed the privacy audit.
- Pending: The request requires manual intervention due to an edge case, such as vendor technical issues, legal questions, or unique campaign details.
- Canceled: A user or internal stakeholder canceled the request.
- Completed: Your brand is verified. You can now request for campaigns.
You can save a draft of your request and return to it later. Save up to 10 drafts of each type of request, including brands, campaigns, and codes.
You can also review the reasons for rejection. If the review process requires corrections, you can edit the request by clicking the arrow next to the request and selecting Edit and Resubmit Request.
If the request is rejected twice, Salesforce emails your support contact to address the issue.
