Manage MuleSoft MCP Servers in API Catalog

Manage MuleSoft MCP Servers in API Catalog

Discover MuleSoft MCP servers to use in Agentforce. Sync eligible new and updated versions of MCP servers from Anypoint Platform into your catalog. Then, create connections for them and add tools you allow the servers to use.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Developer, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions

MuleSoft MCP Servers are eligible to sync into API Catalog if they have a consumer endpoint for at least one instance. The consumer endpoint must be a valid HTTPS URL. Consumer URLs appear as destination URLs in API Catalog. See MuleSoft Documentation: Add API Instances.

API Catalog makes it easy to create secure connections for your MuleSoft MCP servers. The catalog keeps you up to date on new MCP Server versions as they sync into the catalog. You’re prompted to request access if you need it.

          1. Ask an Anypoint Platform admin to complete the prerequisite configuration in the Anypoint Platform organization you want to sync MCP servers from. For details, see MuleSoft Documentation: Connecting a Trusted Salesforce Organization to Anypoint Platform.
          2. In Salesforce, from Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter API Catalog, and then select MCP Servers.
          3. Click Enable Sync.
The sync typically takes several minutes to complete, especially for the initial sync, and runs as a background operation.
          4. Make sure the latest synced MCP servers show in the servers list by refreshing the page.
If you don’t see the MCP servers that you expect, double check the prerequisites for the API Catalog sync.

If you reach system limits during the sync, remove MCP servers that you no longer need. See Remove MCP Servers from API Catalog.

Stop and Restart the MCP Server Sync

Stop and restart to sync MCP servers that you just added to Anypoint Platform to avoid waiting for the next scheduled sync.

          1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter API Catalog, and then select MCP Servers.
          2. To start the sync the first time or after you stop it, click Enable Sync on the MCP Servers home page.
          3. To stop and restart the sync at any time, click Manage Sync and enable or disable the sync by using the toggle.

Create Connections and Manage Tools for MuleSoft MCP Servers

Create connections to authorize MuleSoft MCP servers in Salesforce. After you create the connection, continue to add tools to allow API operations. The MCP server automatically activates after you finish configuring the connection and adding the tools.

          Important
Important Use an authentication protocol that the Agentforce MCP client supports for your MCP server connections. For example, OAuth 2.0 with client ID and client secret.
          1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter API Catalog, and then select MCP Servers.
          2. Select the External Servers tab.
          3. Select a MuleSoft MCP Server.
          4. Click New Connection.
          5. To customize the default connection label and name, overtype them.
          6. Enter a description.
          7. Select a destination URL to use as the managed named credential for this connection to Salesforce. If you select a destination you can’t access, ask your Anypoint Platform admin to approve the access and check the status again. Select an SLA tier if it’s required. See MuleSoft Documentation: Client Applications, Contracts, and Credentials.
          8. Click Create and Continue.

For MCP servers using client ID enforcement, the connection configuration is created automatically, including external credentials, named credentials, external services, and permission sets.

For MCP servers using external or custom authentication protocols, such as OAuth 2.0, API Catalog sets the connection's Authentication Status to Custom. After you complete the connection, verify your connection credentials. Finish configuring the named credential and authentication as needed. See Create or Edit an External Credential.

After API Catalog creates and validates the connection, continue to add tools to the MCP server.

Manage MuleSoft MCP Server Tools in API Catalog

As you create a connection for a MuleSoft MCP server, you’re prompted to add tools that you allow the MCP server to use. You can also add and remove allowed tools from the MCP server details page.

          1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter API Catalog, and then select MCP Servers.
          2. Select the External Servers tab.
          3. Select a MuleSoft MCP server to add tools to.
          4. Select the Tools tab.
          5. To add or remove a tool, switch between Add Tool and Added.
