A workflow reference ID gives each workflow from a blueprint a unique, auto-incrementing identifier built from a prefix and a starting number you define. After you set up the reference ID, Agentforce Operations shows the ID in the workflow name, the workflow's About tab, and as an optional column on the Home page.
Set Up a Workflow Reference ID
Configure a custom prefix and starting number so Agentforce Operations can assign reference IDs to workflows from a blueprint.
- Create a blueprint or edit an existing blueprint.
- In the blueprint, click the Settings tab.
- In the Reference ID section, click Set Up.
-
Select Custom prefix
Prefix requirements:
- Letters, numbers, periods, underscores, or dashes only
- No spaces
- Can't end with a special character
- Must be unique at the workspace level. If the prefix is in use, Agentforce Operations notifies you when you try to publish, and you must enter a different prefix. Workflow Reference ID becomes a field that you can pass to downstream tasks or use in automations.
- Enter your prefix and select your starting number.
-
Publish the blueprint.
Agentforce Operations assigns reference IDs only to workflows created from published blueprints. The system automatically adds the ID to the workflow's naming convention.
Reference IDs carry over automatically when you create new versions of the blueprint.
Turn Off Workflow Reference IDs
Remove the custom reference ID prefix from a blueprint so Agentforce Operations stops assigning reference IDs to new workflows.
- Create a blueprint or edit an existing blueprint.
- In the blueprint, click the Settings tab.
- In the Reference ID section, click Edit.
- Select Default.
- Click Save. If an error shows, click Save again to confirm.
New workflows created from this blueprint are no longer assigned reference IDs. Existing workflows keep their reference IDs.
