Understand Value Maps in MuleSoft for Flow: Integration

Understand Value Maps in MuleSoft for Flow: Integration

Use value maps to translate source values to target values by using a reusable global resource across flows.

          Required Editions

          View supported editions.
This feature requires the MuleSoft for Flow: Integration add-on. Exceptions are segment-triggered flows, activation-triggered flows, and broadcast flows, which don't require the MuleSoft for Flow: Integration add-on. Professional Edition requires the API access add-on. To purchase an add-on, contact your Salesforce account executive.
MuleSoft for Flow: Integration features used with Agentforce require the Foundations or Agentforce 1 edition. To purchase these editions, contact your Salesforce account executive.

          What Is a Value Map?

A value map is a lookup table that maps a source value to a target value. Instead of rebuilding the same translation logic in formulas or decision branches, define the mapping one time and reuse it in multiple integration flows.

For example, you can map one system's priority values to another system's priority labels, such as P1 to High.

          How Value Maps Work

          • Each entry contains a source value and a mapped target value.
          • Source values must be unique.
          • Target values can repeat across multiple source values.
          • Lookups run in forward direction only: source value to target value.

          Set Behavior for Unmapped Values

If a source value isn’t found in the value map, select a default behavior.

          • Fail the flow: Stop execution and return an error.
          • Pass through as an unmapped value: Use the source value as the output.
          • Define a default value: Return a specific default target value.

Manage Value Maps as Global Resources

Manage value maps from Global Flow Resources, where you can create, view, and open value maps. On each value map record, you can update mapping entries, review flows that reference the map, and delete the map when no dependencies exist.
