Protect Your Data with Backup Services for Microsoft Dynamics

Safeguard your critical business information by adding a backup service to your account. After selecting a service type and completing the initial setup, backups run automatically to give you peace of mind knowing your data is secure and recoverable.

1. Go to the Backup tab and click New Service.
2. Select the Microsoft Dynamics icon.
3. Select the Authentication Method.
   • Interactive User (Impersonation): Using a user's credentials. Impersonation in OAuth 2.0 protocol.
   • Application User (Server to Server)
4. Click Add Service. You'll be redirected to the Microsoft login page.
5. Select the relevant Microsoft account and sign in.
6. For the first environment you authenticate within your tenant, you'll be prompted to authorize the Own Application to access your environment’s data.
7. Click Accept.
8. In the Add Service Microsoft Dynamics page select the environment to back up. For the Authentication method, select Application User (Server to Server).
9. Enter the required fields:
   • Tenant ID
   • Application ID
   • Client Secret
   • Secret Expiration Date
   • Instance URL
10. Click Add Service. You are prompted to authenticate with the cloud service provider, authorizing Own to access your org using OAuth.
11. After authenticated, the daily backups run automatically. You'll be informed by email after the first backup completes successfully.
12. Authenticate an admin user that has the “Modify All Data” permission and at least Read Access to all Standard & Custom fields to make sure the backups complete properly.
13. Click Add Service.

14. Make sure that the System Administrator security role is assigned to the authenticated user, so the Recover app can access your data for backup and restore operations.
