Run a Masking Job

Given that you created a policy in your sandbox addressing your masking use case needs, you can now manually run a masking job using that policy to mask your sandbox’s object data. To run a masking job, open a sandbox policy in view-only mode and in the displayed policy page, select the Run Now button. Selecting this button opens the Run Masking Job dialog.

Important You can only run masking jobs in sandboxes. The Run Now button is disabled in production org policies.

The Run Masking Job dialog displays the (view-only) policy name and the policy description (field is empty when description hasn’t been provided). Select the Run button to start the masking job.

Important At the start of a masking job, Data Mask & Seed automatically bypasses Salesforce automations enabled for the sandbox to prevent them from interfering with masking processing. The affected automations are any custom workflow rules, triggers, validation rules, and automations from installed managed packages. Although the affected automations are bypassed, they remain enabled for the sandbox.

The UI closes the Run Masking Job dialog and immediately opens the Jobs tab and its currently pinned list view. The masking job that you just started appears as an entry in the presented table, where you monitor the job’s progress. For details about the Jobs tab, see Monitor Masking Jobs from the Jobs Tab.
