Scheduled Masking Policies

Scheduled Masking Policies

After creating a policy in your sandbox that addresses your masking use case needs, you can then schedule masking jobs to be automatically run using that policy to mask your sandbox’s object data.

Required Editions

Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions with the Salesforce Data Mask add-on license.

Given that you created a policy in your sandbox addressing your masking use case needs, you can now schedule masking jobs to be automatically run, either on a recurring or a one time basis, using that policy to mask your sandbox’s object data. The option to schedule a policy to be automatically run in masking jobs is in addition to the option of manually running an individual masking job using that policy. Scheduling is useful for routine masking jobs, such as masking sandbox data every weekend.

Important
Important At the start of a masking job, Data Mask & Seed automatically bypasses Salesforce automations enabled for the sandbox to prevent them from interfering with masking processing. The affected automations are any custom workflow rules, triggers, validation rules, and automations from installed managed packages. Although the affected automations are bypassed, they remain enabled for the sandbox.

To schedule a policy, open a sandbox policy in view-only mode and in the displayed policy page, select the Schedule button. Selecting this button opens the Schedule Policy dialog. Use this dialog to perform any of the following tasks:

  • Define a masking job schedule for the sandbox policy
  • Modify the existing schedule for the sandbox policy, if defined
  • Delete the existing schedule for the sandbox policy, if defined
Important
Important You can only run masking jobs in sandboxes. The Schedule button is disabled in production org policies.
