Before retrying an operation, wait for any operation already in progress to finish. Repeated retries can extend a source control rate limit or start duplicate work.
Issue: Can't move a work item to In Progress status.
Action: Verify write access to the repository. On the DevOps Center Home tab, verify your source control connection status and reconnect if prompted.
Issue: Can't set work item status to Never or Cancel.
Action: You can't set status to Never or Cancel after promoting a work item to the first pipeline stage. Complete the promotion, then create a work item to revert the changes. Don't modify DevOps Center records directly, as the stage branch retains the original metadata.
Issue: Back sync remains in "Back sync of environment in progress" status.
Action: Verify back-sync prerequisites and wait for the operation to complete. Full environment syncs take longer. Don't restart the operation repeatedly. If the status remains in progress for several hours, blocks deployments, or returns a maximum-request-size error, contact Salesforce Support.
Issue: Deployment stalls at Initiating Deployment, disabling the promotion option for other work items.
Action: Check the deployment status in target environment Setup. If running, wait for completion. If complete but DevOps Center still shows Initiating Deployment, contact Salesforce Support before retrying.
Issue: Work item doesn't update after committing or merging changes outside DevOps Center.
Action: Verify that the commit is pushed to the work item branch in the remote repository. Follow the steps in External Merges. If the work item doesn't move to In Review or recognize the external merge, contact Salesforce Support.
Issue: Selecting a pipeline environment redirects to a login page.
Action: Log in to the target environment from the pipeline to refresh expired credentials, then retry the promotion. If redirect loops persist after login, contact Salesforce Support.
Issue: Repository returns a 403 or IP allowlist error.
Action: Have your source control admin update the repository owner IP allowlist based on current network requirements. See Update IP Allowlist for Next Generation DevOps Center. Don't reuse DevOps Center Managed Package IP addresses, as the next-generation DevOps Center uses different infrastructure. If access issues persist after allowlisting the required ranges, contact Salesforce Support.
