Exclude Emails and Events from Einstein Activity Capture
Set up org-wide exclusions to control which emails and calendar events are captured and stored. Exclude emails and events from specific addresses and domains, and filter emails based on keywords and sensitive content. Adding exclusions doesn’t remove previously captured emails or synced events. Exclusions only filter incoming data after the value is saved.

Exclude Emails and Events Based on Addresses and Domains
When you exclude email addresses or domains, emails and events with those people or companies aren’t added to the activity timeline of related Salesforce records. Events aren’t added to the Salesforce calendar or synced between Salesforce and the connected account. Your excluded addresses list applies to all Einstein Activity Capture users. Users can add more email addresses to their own excluded addresses lists in their personal settings. By default, your company's internal email domain is automatically excluded.
Review the org-wide excluded addresses list immediately after setting up Einstein Activity Capture. If you have customers, prospects, or contacts who use the same domain as your company, their emails and events are blocked from Salesforce records. Verify the list to confirm that customer communications aren't being filtered out.
- From Setup, enter Einstein Activity Capture in the Quick Find box, and then select Settings.
- Click the Excluded Addresses tab.
- Click Add.
- Follow the prompts to update the Excluded Addresses list.
Domain exclusions support wildcard rules. For example, enter *.domain.com to exclude all subdomains, such as support.domain.com and multilevel subdomains (more.support.domain.com). This example would not, however, filter out the primary domain (domain.com). Enter the primary domain as a unique entry.
Exclude Emails Based on Keywords and Sensitive Content
Add keywords to exclude specific emails from capture. Use automatic sensitive content filtering to detect and exclude specific email messages. Basic sensitive content exclusion is on by default and uses pattern matching to detect content.
Keyword exclusion supports single words, phrases, or regular expressions. Use semicolons (;) to add multiple values in the fields. In regular expressions, use a double backslash (\\). You can’t edit keywords. To change a keyword exclusion, delete it and add the modified version to the exclusions.
Basic sensitive content detection excludes messages that contain credit card numbers, US social security and driver license numbers, and Canada social insurance numbers. It also excludes email that includes the word “confidential” in the subject.
- From Setup, enter Einstein Activity Capture in the Quick Find box, and then select Settings.
- In the Don't Capture Sensitive Emails setting, click Manage.
- Click Add.
- In Auto Detection, use the toggle to switch on the setting for basic sensitive content exclusion.
- In Keywords, add exclusions.
- Save any changes before closing the window.
