Goal Configuration in Sales Planning

Goals in Sales Planning control how Sales Planning shows target values across territory planning, quota planning, and segment views. For revenue-based metrics, Sales Planning shows targets as currency. For count-based metrics, targets display as plain numbers.

Required Editions

Available in: both Salesforce Classic (not available in all orgs) and Lightning Experience
Available for an additional cost in: Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions with Sales Planning in English only, and only if you have Web Services API enabled

Show metrics as currency: When you configure a goal, choose whether to show the goal's target values as currency or as plain numbers.

  • Currency—displays target values in your organization's corporate currency. Use this option for metrics, such as revenue or pipeline.
  • Quantity—displays target values as plain numbers. Use this option for metrics such as new logos or leads generated.

You can change this setting after you save the goal.

Where this setting appliesAfter you configure a goal, the display format applies in:

  • Territory planning: allocation modal, legend, summary table, graph axes, and map labels
  • Quota planning: quota table, ramp tab, and unit type tab
  • Segment & Targets: target display (read-only)

Copy and paste behavior: When you copy a value from a currency-formatted column, the clipboard captures only the number and not currency symbols and formatting.

Considerations

  • Currency goals use your organization's corporate currency only. Sales Planning doesn't support multi-currency.
  • You can change the currency or quantity setting after you save the goal.
  • In Segment & Targets, the goal display format is read-only. To change the format, go to the goal settings.
  • Configure Goals
Set up a goal's target type to control how to show values across territory planning, quota planning, and segment views.
