Preparing for Sales Planning

Get systems, processes, and people in place before you import data and create your plans in Sales Planning.

Required Editions

Available in: both Salesforce Classic (not available in all orgs) and Lightning Experience
Available for an additional cost in: Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions with Sales Planning in English only, and only if you have Web Services API enabled
  1. Install Sales Planning
Access the Sales Planning and Territory Planning managed packages and then install them before you grant your stakeholders permissions.
  2. Establishing Permissions for Sales Planning
Authorize teammates for administering Sales Planning, managing sales plans, and contributing to or viewing areas of sales plans.
  3. Designate an OAuth User
Assign yourself or a colleague as the OAuth user. Sales Planning processes data management and optimizations through the OAuth user. That way, nobody’s affected during intensive system processing.
  4. Add Trusted IP Ranges to the OAuth User’s Profile
If your org enforces IP restrictions, add the trusted IP ranges to the OAuth user’s profile so that your org can reach the backend services required by Sales Planning and Salesforce Maps products.
  5. Turn On Data Pipelines and Set Up Data Templates
Give stakeholders who participate in the planning process authority to create and update key components of Sales Planning through Salesforce Data Pipelines.
  6. Creating Datasets
Create datasets with Salesforce data so that you plan for segmentation, territories, and quota targets in Sales Planning.
