Set Up Auto Assignment in Salesforce Maps

Create an assignment plan with rules that route records to users based on geographic criteria.

Required Editions

Available in: Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic
Available in: Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions
User Permissions Needed
To configure Salesforce Maps: Customize Application
  1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Installed Packages, and then select Installed Packages.
  2. Find the Salesforce Maps package, and then click Configure.
  3. On the Auto Assignment tab, create an assignment plan and give it a name.
  4. Add rules to route records to users based on geographic criteria (for example, the territory shape that a record falls in).
  5. Select the target object, and map the address fields that the rule evaluates.
  6. Activate the plan, and then save.

Records that match the plan's rules are assigned to the corresponding users.

To assign records on a schedule or in bulk, run assignments as a batch (see Salesforce Help: Schedule and Run Record Assignments). To trigger assignments from custom automation, use the AssignRecords global method in the Salesforce Maps Developer Guide.
