Customize Salesforce Maps
Customize the map experience for your field users. Control which buttons and actions are available, add overlays, and integrate other data sources.
Required Editions
| Available in: Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic |
| Available in: Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions |
After your records plot correctly on the map, customize the experience: add map layers to visualize your data, configure the buttons and actions available to field users, set up activity logging, and connect ArcGIS data sources.
- Add a Map Layer in Salesforce Maps
Add a layer to display records or geographic information on the map. Create marker, shape, and data layers to visualize your Salesforce data, define territories, and add third-party context for your field users. Save a layer in a private folder, or share it by saving it in the Corporate folder. - Show Utility Lines with Polyline Layers in Salesforce Maps
Retain customers and meet expectations when you support reps’ efforts to address utility issues quickly by setting up polyline layers in Salesforce Maps. Plot spans that visualize records’ polylines and select those records when planning work, such as trimming a tree that’s interfering with transmission lines. Then use mass actions to add the line and tree’s location to a route for your service team. - Organize Salesforce Maps Layers in Folders
Organize layers in private folders. With folder permissions, you have control to create public folders within the Corporate folder, and then specify who gets access to them in Salesforce Maps. - Configure Buttons and Actions in Salesforce Maps
Control which actions users can perform by creating a button set. Assign different sets to different permission groups. You can also create custom actions that open web pages, load Lightning web components, or trigger flows directly from a map marker. - Best Practice: Launch a Screen Flow from a Maps Custom Action
Launch a screen flow from a Salesforce Maps custom action so reps can capture a checklist, survey, or notes from a marker. - Set Up Activity Logging in Salesforce Maps
Let field users create records for leads and accounts and log visit activities from a map. A rep can use Click2Create to capture a new lead, then use Check In to log the visit on the account. - Configure the ArcGIS Connector for Salesforce Maps
Connect Salesforce Maps to ArcGIS layers and data sources from your company's Esri Portal. - Assign Salesforce Maps Routes to Non-User Objects
Extend desktop route management beyond individual user assignments by assigning routes to non-user objects, such as vehicles or trucks. - Automate User Schedules and Routes in Salesforce Maps
Salesforce Maps Advanced automates users' schedules and routes for up to 3 months. - Assign Records Automatically with Salesforce Maps
Auto Assignment assigns records to the appropriate user based on territory or proximity rules for a defined set of standard objects and custom objects. - Salesforce Maps Mobile Settings
Users can tailor Salesforce Maps to how they work, including plotting limits, distance units, shift times, and breaks. - Salesforce Maps Routing Limits and Considerations
Keep these routing limits and considerations in mind when you build and optimize routes. Routes approaching these limits can take up to 2 minutes to optimize. - Show Nearby Maps in Salesforce Records and Sites
Bring context to records and sites when you add a Salesforce Maps component to page and site layouts. Select from standard maps for accounts, contacts, cases, leads, and opportunities. Or create custom maps that show the records or filtered layers of your choice. - Administer Timesheets and Mileage in Salesforce Maps
Maximize your reps’ time in the field when you simplify activity and distance tracking with Salesforce Maps Mileage Administration. Specify distance parameters that qualify for reimbursements and establish an approval process for timesheets. - Plot Layers Automatically When Reps Start a Session
Show the layers that managers and operations want to appear when reps start their sessions in Salesforce Maps. That way, your reps can jump right into their work without searching for critical details. For example, set marker and ArcGIS layers that give reps more context for sales and service work in their respective areas.
