Create an Automated Visit Plan in Salesforce Maps Advanced

Optimize field users' routes automatically over a 3 month window based on your visit criteria.

Before you start:

  • Install Salesforce Maps Advanced.
  • Enable Maps and Location Services in your org.
  • Assign the Salesforce Maps Advanced permission set license and permission set to the users that you plan to route. See Give Users Access to Salesforce Maps.
  1. From the App Launcher, find and select Maps Advanced Visit Plans.
  2. Click New.
  3. Enter the plan details, including the records or objects to visit, the users to route, and the plan's date range.
  4. Enter the visit criteria.
  5. Assign users to the plan.
  6. Save the visit plan.
  7. To generate routes, open the active visit plan and click Plan Visits. Field users generate their route by clicking Plan My Visits. Routes are generated from the start date through the visit plan's end date.

    To generate routes programmatically, use the StartAdvancedOptimizationForVisitPlan or StartAdvancedOptimizationForUsers global method in the Salesforce Maps Developer Guide.
