Turn On Sales Features

When you turn on Sales Initial Setup, the system automatically enables these features:

  • Einstein Activity Capture (EAC)—keeps sales teams' records up to date by capturing email and calendar activity automatically. Frees sellers from manual updates so they can spend more time with customers.
  • Einstein Conversation Insights (ECI)—equips sales teams with insights from customer calls so they understand what drives successful conversations. Helps sales managers coach effectively and improve deal outcomes.
  • Pipeline Forecasting—shows sales teams a clear picture of expected revenue so they know where to focus. Help leaders spot risks early and guide teams with data-backed decisions.
  • Pipeline Inspection—gives sales teams a consolidated view of pipeline metrics, opportunities, week-to-week changes, AI insights, and activity data. Helps sellers prioritize key opportunities and forecast revenue more accurately.
  • Lead Intelligence View—gives sales teams a centralized place to monitor lead activity and engagement metrics, get actionable insights, take actions, and update records.
  • Contact Intelligence View—gives sellers a single place to view contact activity and engagement metrics, get AI insights, take action, and update records.
  • Account Intelligence View—prioritizes your accounts based on activity and opportunity data. View account activity, vital opportunity metrics, review cases, and log activities, in a single view.
  • Account Plans—provides a dedicated workspace to nurture and grow key accounts. Captures customer needs, analyzes strengths and weaknesses, and tracks objectives with measurable metrics.

During Sales Initial Setup, we create these configurations for you.

  • An Einstein Activity Capture configuration with default values, if a configuration doesn't exist.
  • The seller role, if your org doesn't have any roles.

Connect Your Email Domain

To turn on automatic syncing of emails, calendar events, and contacts, connect your email provider.

  1. If Einstein Activity Capture isn't set up, select your email provider: Gmail, Microsoft Office 365, or Microsoft Exchange.
  2. Follow the provider-specific steps to connect your email and calendar.
  3. Review your configuration summary.
  4. If Einstein Activity Capture is set up, you see a read-only view of your current configuration. Select which configuration to use for the sellers you add in the next step, or edit your settings in the Einstein Activity Capture setup page.
  5. Monitor your team’s status to make sure they’ve connected their email accounts and are actively adopting Einstein Activity Capture features.

Add Sellers

Add your sales team members and give them access to the features they need. You can add sellers manually, select existing users, or upload from a CSV file.

  1. Add sellers using your selected method and save.
    Each seller gets:
    • A role, if they don't already have a role assigned.
    • A standard user profile.
    • Access to Einstein Conversation Insights, Einstein Activity Capture, Account Plans, Pipeline Forecasting, and Pipeline Inspection.
    • Added to your Einstein Activity Capture configuration.
  2. Review the list of sellers on the Review tab to confirm all sellers meet the required criteria.
Note
Note When importing sellers via CSV, this step doesn't update right away. We email you the success or failure status of each seller uploaded. You can see the sellers that you added in the Review tab of the Add Sellers step in Sales Initial Setup in Salesforce Go. You can also access the sales record data you uploaded from the respective object view in Salesforce.

Set Quotas for Your Team

This step becomes available after you add at least one seller.

  1. Enter a quota for each seller for the current month or quarter. Or assign the same quota for all sellers, and then edit individual quotas as needed.
  2. Assign quotas to any new sellers that you add later.
Note
Note All sellers must have a quota in an active forecast type before you can proceed to the next step.

Import Your Sales Data

Upload your existing customer and opportunity data.

  1. Select which object types to import. You can import any or all of these objects: Leads, Accounts, Contacts, or Opportunities.
  2. Follow the import process for each selected object type.
  3. Map your data fields to Salesforce fields.

The step completes when at least one record exists for one of the four object types or when an upload is queued.

Connect Slack to Salesforce

Use Slack in Salesforce so sellers can access conversations directly in record pages and edit records from inside Slack. To connect Slack to Salesforce, go to the Guided Slack Setup and follow the setup steps.

Access Sales Initial Setup After Completion

Return to the Sales Initial Setup anytime using the Sales Initial Setup card on the Salesforce Go home page.
