Considerations for Sales Initial Setup

Considerations for Sales Initial Setup

Before starting Sales Initial Setup, review these considerations.

Required Editions

Available in: Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, Einstein 1 Sales, and Agentforce 1 Sales editions with Sales Cloud only.
User Permissions Needed
To set up and configure Sales Initial Setup: View Setup and Configuration AND Customize Application OR Modify All Data
To give Salesforce users access to the features in Sales Initial Setup: Customize Application AND View Setup

General Considerations

  • When you import your sales data during Sales Initial Setup, the Salesforce admin who uploads the data becomes the owner of all imported records. This ownership assignment affects several things, such as:
    • List views and reports: Standard list views filter records by ownership. When the admin owns all records, list views such as My Opportunities and My Leads are empty for sales reps. Dashboards show data only for the admin also.
    • Forecasts: Forecasts roll up opportunities based on user ownership. When the admin owns all opportunities, forecasts show all revenue under the admin. Without proper ownership assignment, your forecast hierarchy doesn't reflect your actual sales organization structure. Also, your revenue rollup across your team isn't accurate.
    • To resolve this issue for uploaded records, reassign records manually or mass transfer record ownership right away to ensure correct data visibility.
  • To complete the Add Sellers step, you must assign a role to at least one user and add that user to an Einstein Activity Capture configuration. The user must also have access to Einstein Conversation Insights, Einstein Activity Capture, Account Plans, Pipeline Forecasting, and Pipeline Inspection.
  • When adding sellers, you're limited to the number of available licenses shown in the license count.
  • Some features can take a while to turn on. You can leave and return to the Sales Initial Cloud Setup experience anytime. In Salesforce Go, search for Sales Initial Setup on the Salesforce Go Initial Setup tab.
