          Metric Cards in Salesforce Spiff

          Metric Cards in Salesforce Spiff

Metric cards are visual tiles on a statement in Salesforce Spiff that summarize key commission data, such as total commissions and attainment. Select which metric cards appear, customize them, and arrange them so that reps see the most relevant insights at a glance.

          Required Editions

Available in: both Salesforce Classic (not available in all orgs) and Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions
Available for an additional cost in: Professional Edition with Web Services API Enabled

          Types of Metric Cards

Metric cards help reps spend more time selling and less time building commission spreadsheets. Each card shows a single, meaningful value that reflects a data point for the selected plan. Statements are specific to plans, so every rep on the same plan sees the same metric cards in the same layout. Salesforce Spiff includes two types of metric cards.

          • Top-level statement metrics appear at the top of a statement and summarize data across all payout rules on the plan, rep, and period.
          • Payout rule metrics appear within an individual payout rule and summarize data for that rule.

          Standard Top-Level Metrics

Salesforce Spiff provides standard top-level metrics that admins add from the metric type list. Three of these metrics appear on a statement by default.

          Metric Description Shown by Default
Total Commissions Shows the total commission amount for the period, which is the sum of the commission totals for each payout rule, plus any manual adjustments or manual draws. Yes
          Commission Trend

Includes a bar chart that shows a rolling total for the most recent 12-month commission amount. This value isn't a year-to-date or fiscal year-to-date total. This metric is most useful for monthly statement periods.

          Note
Note The X-axis labels show only the first character from the statement period name. For default monthly periods, these labels are intuitive, because they show the first letter of the month. When showing custom periods, however, reps can find the labels confusing.
          Yes
Commission Breakdown Includes a pie chart that shows the percentage that each payout rule contributes to the total commission amount for the period. This metric is most useful for plans that have more than one payout rule. Yes
YTD Commission Shows the year-to-date commission total (Fiscal Year, as configured in the Company Settings). Add this metric to give reps a running view of their earnings across the year. No

          Custom Metric Cards

To show data beyond the standard metrics, admins create custom metric cards from calculations defined in Designer. Any worksheet or datasheet calculation that exists in a plan is available as a metric card. Changes to custom metric cards apply to all statements on the same plan.

          Metric Card Visualization and Size

When you add a metric card, you determine how it appears.

          • Visualization—A metric appears as a single value or a progress ring. Progress rings are available only for metrics formatted as a percentage. All other numerical data appears as a single value.
          • Size—A metric card appears in a regular or compact size. A compact card fits two cards in the space of one regular card and is available only for single-value metrics. Progress rings appear only in the regular size.

In edit mode, click Add New Tile to configure a metric card. Drag a card to change its position on the statement.

Trace Details from a Metric Card

To show how a metric is calculated, click a metric card to open the trace view. Tracing provides transparency into each calculation and helps reduce commission questions and disputes. For more information, see Capture Trace View in Salesforce Spiff.
