Activity Tracker in the Scheduling Console

Activity Tracker in the Scheduling Console

The Activity Tracker gives dispatchers a centralized, real-time view of all scheduling and optimization processes running in the Scheduling Console, so they can stay informed and in control while continuing their dispatching work.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
The Field Service core features, managed package, and mobile app are available in Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions.

Package icon This is a Field Service managed package feature.

The Activity Tracker is a docked panel that opens automatically at the bottom-right corner of the Scheduling Console when you initiate a scheduling or optimization process. It gives you continuous visibility into scheduling and optimization processes that run in the background without losing Gantt context. It updates in real time, lets you cancel processes mid-run if needed, and provides detailed metrics on how each run affected your schedule and service appointments.

The Activity Tracker tracks the progress of these process types:

          • Schedule and Reschedule (single or multiple service appointments)
          • Resource Schedule Optimization
          • In-Day Optimization
          • Global Optimization
          Note
Note Canceling a scheduling or rescheduling process stops future appointments from being processed. Appointments already scheduled or rescheduled before cancellation aren't changed. Canceling an optimization process rolls back all changes and returns the schedule to its state before the run.

The Activity Tracker header shows the number of processes that are currently running or have been completed (1). Use the icons in the header to minimize or close the tracker (2).

You can also open and close the Activity Tracker from the Activity Tracker button in the Scheduling Console header. When other dispatchers initiate a process within the same service territory, or when you close the Activity Tracker while a process is running, a blue dot appears on the button to indicate that processes are running and available for display (1).

How long optimization processes remain visible in the Activity Tracker depends on the process type.

          • Optimization processes (Resource Schedule Optimization, Global Optimization, and In-Day Optimization) are saved for 24 hours.
          • Scheduling and rescheduling processes are cleared when you refresh the browser.

The Activity Tracker shows the process name, its current status, who initiated it, and a timestamp for each Activity Tracker entry (1).

When a process completes, these actions may be available on the entry depending on the process type:

          • Show Results: Opens a side panel with the results of the process. Available for scheduling and rescheduling of multiple service appointments, Resource Schedule Optimization, In-Day Optimization, and Global Optimization.
          • Show on Gantt: Navigates directly to the scheduled service appointment on the Gantt. Available for single service appointment scheduling and rescheduling.
          • Try Again: Reruns a canceled or interrupted optimization process. Available for Resource Schedule Optimization, In-Day Optimization, and Global Optimization.
          • Show Optimization Request ID: Opens the Optimization Request record for a failed optimization process. Available for Resource Schedule Optimization, In-Day Optimization, and Global Optimization.
