Retire and Dispose of IT Hardware

Create disposal orders to securely decommission retired IT hardware and maintain compliance audit trails through vendor coordination.

Available in: Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions with Agentforce IT Service.

User Permissions Needed
To create and manage disposal orders:	IT Asset Manager or IT Auditor

Assets you want to dispose of are in Retired status.
Third-party vendors or internal disposal teams are created as Account records.

Add eligible retired assets to disposal orders to maintain a strict audit trail.

Create a Disposal Order

From the App Launcher, find and select IT Hardware Asset Management.
Select Disposal Orders, and click New.
Select a Disposal Method, such as Recycle or Destruction.
Find and select the Disposal Vendor.
Select the Status.
(Optional) Enter the Expected Pickup Date, Disposal Address, and any notes.
Save your changes.

From the App Launcher, find and select IT Hardware Asset Management.
Select Disposal Orders.
Select the disposal order.
In the Quick Action, select Add Assets.
Filter the list to find retired assets, select the items for disposal, and confirm your selection.
Save your changes.

The system creates a line item for each asset and updates the status to Pending Disposal.
