Run Bulk Actions on Hardware Assets

Run Bulk Actions on Hardware Assets

Perform critical lifecycle transitions on a large group of hardware assets simultaneously to save time and maintain accurate inventory records.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions with Agentforce IT Service.
          User Permissions Needed
To run bulk actions: Hardware Asset Management - Asset Manager AND Batch Management User
          • For filter-based selection: Identify up to 200 assets from the Assets list view.
          • For CSV file upload: Prepare a CSV file containing up to 10,000 asset record IDs with Id as the first column header.

Hardware Asset Management batch processing automates updates for reclaiming, refreshing, and disposing of assets. Bulk actions use the Salesforce Batch Management framework and run asynchronously in the background.

          1. From the App Launcher, find and select IT Hardware Asset Management.
          2. Select Assets.
          3. Select your processing method based on volume:
            • Filter-Based selection (up to 200 records): Use standard filters to identify assets, select them from the list view, then select the appropriate action button (Return Assets, Return Aging Assets, or Dispose Assets).
            • CSV File Upload (up to 10,000 records): Select Run Bulk Action and upload your CSV file containing asset record IDs.
          4. Review the selected assets in the data table to confirm they're correct for the batch.
          5. Select Submit.

The system initiates the batch job and appears a confirmation message with the batch job ID. For return and refresh actions, the system automatically triggers notifications to assigned asset owners. The Asset Timeline logs every transition, creating an audit trail that records the date, time, initiating user, field changes, and links to related records.
