            Set Up Soft Reservations for Inventory

            Set up soft reservations to reserve inventory for upcoming jobs without immediately deducting stock. Soft reservations help you track planned usage and confirm that items are available when work begins.

            Required Editions

            Available in: Lightning Experience
            Available in: Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions with Agentforce IT Service.
            User Permissions Needed
            To set up and manage inventory reservations: Customize Application

            Assign the necessary permission sets to your admins and reps so they can access reservation features.

            Configure Product Item Field Layouts

            To prevent manual overrides of stock levels during reservation, set quantity-related fields to read only on serialized Product Item layouts. For non-serialized products, keep quantity-related fields editable so inventory managers can adjust inventory numbers.

            1. From Setup, select Object Manager and select Product Item.
            2. Select Page Layouts, and select a layout for serialized products.
            3. Open the properties for Quantity Allocated, Quantity Damaged, and Quantity On Hold.
            4. Select Read-Only, and select OK.
            5. Click Save.

            Update Fulfillment Order Line Item Layouts

            Add these fields to the Fulfillment Order Line Item page layout to track reservation status.

            1. From Setup, select Object Manager and select Fulfillment Order Product.
            2. Select Page Layouts and select the layout you want to edit.
            3. Drag the Quantity Fulfilled, Quantity Remaining, and Soft Reservation Status fields from the palette onto your layout.
            4. Click Save.
