            Configure a Sourcing Agent

            Configure a sourcing agent to evaluate real-time inventory and logistical constraints for approved hardware requests. The agent determines the fulfillment path based on geographical proximity and recommends by using existing stock, internal transfers, or new procurement. You can customize the logic to evaluate requests by using your specific business criteria.

            User Permissions Needed
            Manage Inventory Configure stockrooms and asset-based inventory locations.
            Customize Application Set up autonomous triggers on service requests and define logistical rules.
            Manage Agents Configure and deploy agents to supported channels.
            • Turn on Hardware Asset Management.
            • Turn on Generative AI in Setup.
            • Turn on sourcing agent preference.
            • Populate an IT Hardware Asset Management data model with service requests, product catalogs, and accounts.
            • Verify inventory data accuracy across product items, product transfers, and product requests.
            • Establish an approval process for hardware requests.

            Set Up Asset Based Inventory Locations

            Configure stockrooms to use IT Asset Management inventory model so that the agent evaluates deployable hardware.

            Configure Fallback and Exception Handling

            Make sure that the process fails gracefully if inventory is unavailable or an error occurs.

            1. Define a routing rule for errors such as Inventory Mismatch.
            2. Set agent to log error details in Work Notes.
            3. Configure agent to change request status to Fulfillment Exception or Work In Progress and route to a manual fulfillment queue.
