            Configure Asset Status Mappings

            Map dynamic asset statuses to product item quantity fields. The asset status mapping framework dictates how individual asset statuses roll up into aggregate quantity fields on product item records.

            Required Editions

            Available in: Lightning Experience
            Available in: Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions with Agentforce IT Service.
            User Permissions Needed
            To configure asset based locations Manage Locations and Hardware Asset Management - Inventory Manager
            To create custom asset statuses Customize Application
            To configure status mapping rules Hardware Asset Management - Asset Manager

            Verify that your organization has the required licenses, location settings, and product configurations. Set org-wide defaults for product items and locations to Public Read.

            Turn on Asset Based Inventory on a Location

            Configure locations and establish status mapping rules to drive an automated framework. The system evaluates the underlying asset status and rolls up mapped values to corresponding product item quantity fields.

            1. From the App Launcher, find and select IT Hardware Asset Management.
            2. Select Locations.
            3. Select the stockroom or storage location to configure.
            4. Select Edit.
            5. Select Inventory Location.
            6. In Usage Type, select Asset based.
              Note
              Note You can't change the Location Usage Type if serialized products link to product items at this location.
            7. Save your changes.

            Create a Custom Asset Status

            Add a custom value to the asset status picklist to track states outside default offerings.

            1. From Setup, open Object Manager and select Asset.
            2. Select Fields & Relationships, then select Status.
            3. In the Asset Status Picklist Values section, select New.
            4. Enter your custom status value, such as Available - Refurbished.
            5. Save your changes.
