Inventory Transaction Triggers and System Limits

Lifecycle Trigger Rules
When an automated lifecycle workflow or user edit alters product item quantities, the system automatically evaluates modified fields. It logs transactions across two platform objects:
- Product Item Transaction (PIT): Records physical stock changes to Quantity On Hand.
- Product Item Additional Transaction (PIAT): Records internal state bucket changes (Quantity Allocated, Soft Reserved, Damaged, and On Hold).

System Limits and Considerations
Forward-Looking Ledger Generation
Automated PIT and PIAT ledger generation applies forward-looking tracking only. Stock movements or state shifts occurring before feature enablement don’t generate corresponding transaction records.
Historical Timeline Reconstruction
The system doesn’t create ledger records retroactively for historical movements. Construct audit timelines before feature enablement by querying historical Product Transfer and Asset Activity records directly.
