          Configure Asset Matching Criteria

          Configure Asset Matching Criteria

Define criteria to automatically link discovered configuration items (CIs) to existing assets in IT Asset Management. Create global rules that apply to a parent CI hierarchy, or create specific rules for individual CI types. Setting up a global rule follows the same steps as creating a specific rule.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions with Agentforce IT Service that have CMDB and Service Graph enabled.

To create an asset matching criteria rule:

          1. From the App Launcher, find, and select CMDB and Service Graph.
          2. From the navigation panel, select CI Type Manager.
          3. Select the CI type.
          4. To create a rule for a specific item type, expand the hierarchy, and select a child CI type, such as Workstation.
          5. Click the Rules tab, and then click Asset Matching Criteria.
          6. Turn on Track as Assets.
          7. Click Add Rules.
          8. Set the Asset Field, Operator, and CI Field.
          9. Click Save.
          Example
          Example

Define a global rule on the Device CI type based on the Asset Tag attribute to check all hardware inventory against a common identifier. Configure an asset-specific rule on the Workstation child type based on unique hardware attributes, such as Serial Number and MAC Address. During a discovery scan, the system uses the specific rule to update workstation records based on hardware identity. The global rule acts as a fallback.
