Update a configuration item (CI) type when you need to revise metadata, improve type
classification, or modify relationship settings. Keeping CI types up-to-date helps teams maintain
accuracy, support data integrity, and adapt to evolving asset structures.
Required Editions
Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited
Editions with Agentforce IT Service that have CMDB and Service Graph enabled.
User Permissions Needed
To edit configuration item types:
IT Service Configuration Item Type Manager
From the App Launcher, find and select CMDB and Service Graph.
In the navigation panel, select Administration, and then select
CMDB.
Click CI Type Manager.
In the Configuration Item Type Manager list, select the CI type to update.
On the record page, click Edit, and make your changes.
Click Save.
