Set Up CMDB Using Salesforce Go
Swiftly set up your CMDB in just a few steps by using Salesforce Go. Use the guided setup experience to turn on the CMDB feature, discovery options, and configure data population rules. Reduce manual setup and unlock core CMDB functionalities with single activation flows.

To set up and access the CMDB Analytics dashboard, assign atleast these permissions to the required users:
- IT Service Configuration Item and Asset Discovery Manager. For more information on CMDB related permissions, see Permission Sets for CMDB.
- Tableau Next Limited Consumer. For more information on Tableau related permissions, see Tableau Next Permission Sets and Licenses.
- Data Cloud User. For more information on Data 360 related permissions, see Data 360 Standard Permission Sets.
- From Setup, click Salesforce Go.
- Search for and select Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
- Click Get Started.
- Select Turn On Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

Under Set Up the Basics, complete the steps.
Use the checkboxes to help you track your progress.
- For Define Base CMDB Configuration, click Go to CMDB Administration.
- Create configuration item (CI) types, set attributes, and establish relationships.

Turn on Auto Copy of CIs to IT Service.
Configuration item details are populated in related IT service records, such as incident, problem, or change.
- For Set Up Auto Discovery of Assets, click Go to Feature Page.
- Set up scan targets and configure asset discovery to bring in configuration items.

If you want to retrieve CMDB information through natural language conversations, create a
CMDB agent .
A CMDB agent can answer questions about CIs, CI relationships, dependencies, and other CMDB data by using the CMDB actions available in Agentforce. For more information , see Create an Agent from an Agentforce Employee Agent Template and AI Actions for CMDB Management.

Under Unlock Advanced Functionality, configure asset creation and CI
linking settings.
These settings identify and link assets to discovered CIs. If the system doesn’t find a match, it creates an asset.
- Select Turn On CI-to-Asset Creation and Linking.
- Configure a Default Asset Owner Account to provide a placeholder account for unassigned assets found during discovery.

Under Unlock Advanced Functionality, set up the Configuration
Management Insights Dashboard.
You can monitor your IT environment's composition and track ongoing operational trends using this dashboard. For more information, see Configuration Management Insights Dashboard.

For Connect Your Data Sources to Data Cloud, click Learn More in
Help.
You can configure the required Data Cloud connections for the CMDB analytics dashboard. For more information, see Set Up Data 360 for Agentforce IT Service.

For Ingest CMDB Data from Data Sources, click Manage Data
Space.
You can select the required data space and save your changes.

For Deploy Data Kit, deploy the required CMDB dashboard data kit components.
The deployment creates the required data streams, data model objects, and mappings for CMDB analytics. For more information, see Agentforce IT Service Data Kit.

For Install CMDB Dashboard App, click Install.
Review the details and complete the installation in the confirmation window.

For Verify CMDB Dashboard App Installation, click Go to Verify Install
Status.
You can review the installation progress in App Install History.

Help.
