            Modify Policy Clauses with AI in Microsoft Word for IT Compliance

            Use generative AI to draft and refine clauses directly in Microsoft Word to accelerate policy authoring. AI-assisted editing helps you generate new requirements or adjust the tone and length of existing text while maintaining a seamless link to your Salesforce compliance records.

            To use AI Policy Authoring in Microsoft 365

            IT Compliance AI Admin permission set

            AND

            Microsoft 365 Guided Setup permission set

            Confirm that AI Policy Authoring with Microsoft 365 is enabled in Salesforce. For setup steps, see Set Up Policy Management with Microsoft 365 for IT Compliance. The Salesforce Policy Connector must also be installed in Microsoft Word. See Configure Microsoft 365 Integration for IT Compliance

            Smart Policy Authoring uses generative AI grounded in your organization’s specific compliance context to ensure generated clauses are relevant and accurate. Always review AI-generated content for accuracy and compliance with your organization's legal standards before finalizing a document.

            Note
            Note Generative AI produces one clause version at a time. The version currently selected in the AI window is the one inserted into the document.

            Draft a New Policy Clause

            Use generative AI to generate a new clause from scratch.

            1. Open your policy document in Microsoft Word using the Salesforce Policy Connector.
            2. In the side panel, click Draft with AI.
            3. In the input box, describe the clause you want to create and submit your prompt.
            4. To adjust the generated content, select a refinement option: Rephrase, Shorten, Elaborate, or Formalize.
            5. Review the text and click Insert to add the clause to your document.

            Refine an Existing Clause

            Refine a clause already in your document using generative AI.

            1. In the side panel, open the Document tab to see a list of clauses currently in the document.
            2. Select the actions menu next to the clause you want to update and click Refine with AI.
            3. Select from one of the refinement options or enter your own instructions.
            4. Review the generated text and click Use Clause to apply the changes.
