Extract Regulation and Policy Clauses with Generative AI for IT Compliance

Extract Regulation and Policy Clauses with Generative AI for IT Compliance

Upload a regulation or policy PDF and let generative AI extract the clauses for you. Generative AI scans the document, identifies the substantive clauses, and skips boilerplate sections such as definitions, FAQs, and references. Compliance officers review the extracted text and create regulation clause or compliance policy clause records in a few clicks.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions with Agentforce IT Service.
          User Permissions Needed
To set up clause extraction: Compliance Admin permission set
To create and manage prompt templates in Prompt Builder:

          Prompt Template Manager permission

          AND

          Execute Prompt Templates permission

To use Natural Language Processing: NLP Service permission set
To use Scoring Framework: Scoring Framework Admin permission set
To run flows: Run Flows permission
          Note
Note Though the existing documentation talks about clause extraction for Process Compliance Navigator, the same concepts apply for clause extraction in IT Compliance in Agentforce IT Service.
          1. Assign the required permissions, turn on Einstein generative AI, activate the Compliance Document Clause Extraction configuration type, turn on Scoring Framework, and update File Upload and Download Security settings so users can preview PDFs in the browser.
For the detailed setup steps, see Set Up Compliance Clause Extraction.
          2. If your business needs different extraction logic, customize the Compliance Document Clause Extraction prompt template in Prompt Builder.
You can keep only one version of the template active at a time. For more details, see Customize the Compliance Prompt Template.
          3. Extract the clauses.

From the IT Compliance app, open the regulation version or compliance policy version record that you want to extract clauses for, click Extract Clauses, upload the source PDF, preview the file, and submit it for extraction. Acknowledge the generative AI disclaimer to start the run.

You can run multiple extractions in parallel. For more details, see Extract Compliance Clauses.

          4. Check the status of each extraction to see which actions are available next, such as reviewing the extracted content, continuing a review in progress, or reinitiating a failed extraction.
For the full list of statuses and the actions supported at each stage, see Clause Extraction Results. Extracted clauses are available for review for 90 days, after which they expire.
          5. Create a regulation clause version or compliance policy clause version record.

From the regulation version or compliance policy version record, click View Extracted Clauses, select an extracted document, and click View Results. Review each clause, refine the text where needed, select the clauses you want to keep, and click Create New Clause. Acknowledge the generative AI disclaimer to save the records.

For more details, see Create Regulation and Policy Clauses.
