Connect CMDB to Data 360

Turn on CMDB on Data Cloud and Data Sync on Data Cloud to copy Configuration Management Database (CMDB) data to Data 360. Verify that the data streams and Data Model Objects contain CMDB data.

User Permissions Needed
To connect CMDB to Data 360:

Salesforce org: System Administrator

AND

Data 360 org: Data Cloud Admin

Turn on Data 360 and complete the setup for Agentforce IT Service. For more information, see Set Up Data 360 for Agentforce IT Service. Turn on CMDB before you turn on CMDB on Data Cloud. For more information, see Set Up CMDB Using Salesforce Go.

The CMDB Data Kit creates the data streams, Data Lake Objects (DLOs), Data Model Objects (DMOs), and mappings for CMDB data. Data sync copies existing CMDB records to Data 360 and sends record changes when data sync is on.

  1. From Setup, click Salesforce Go.
  2. Search for and select Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  3. Click Get Started.
  4. Confirm that Turn On Configuration Management Database (CMDB) is on.
  5. Under Unlock Advanced Functionality, select Turn On CMDB on Data Cloud.
    This option deploys the CMDB Data Kit and creates the data streams, DLOs, and DMOs. Wait until the deployment finishes. For more information, see Configuration Management Database and Service Graph Data Kit.
  6. Select Turn On Data Sync on Data Cloud.
    This option is available after Turn On CMDB on Data Cloud is on. The initial sync copies existing CMDB records to Data 360. New and updated records continue to sync while this option is on.
  7. If you turn data sync off and then on again, review the cost message and confirm the action.
    Turning data sync on again copies the complete CMDB dataset. Copying the data again consumes metered Data 360 capacity.
  8. In the Data 360 app, open the Data Streams tab and confirm that the CMDB data streams are present.
  9. Open the Data Model tab and confirm that the CMDB DMOs are present.
  10. After the initial sync finishes, open a CMDB DMO and confirm that it contains records.

Data 360 contains a copy of the supported CMDB records. CMDB remains the source of truth, and record changes continue to sync when data sync is on.

A server configuration item appears in the CnfgMgmtItem DMO. Its attribute values appear in the CnfgAttributeData DMO, and its connections to other configuration items appear in the CnfgMgmtRelationship DMO.
