            Download and Install Discovery Agents

            Install discovery agents to collect hardware and software inventory data from Windows, macOS, and Linux systems. Agents continuously scan host environments and send collected data to Configuration Management Database (CMDB), keeping it accurate and up to date.

            Required Editions

            Available in: Lightning Experience
            Available in: Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions with Agentforce IT Service that have Discovery enabled.

            Agents differ by operating system and can be installed using an installation wizard or through command line for macOS and Linux.

            1. From App Launcher, find and select CMDB and Service Graph.
            2. In the navigations pane, in Administration, select Discovery, and then Applications.
            3. From the list, select the discovery application where you want to install the agent.
            4. Click View from the record actions to open an application record.
            5. In the Agents tab, copy the registration token.
              The registration token links the discovery agent to your Salesforce CMDB and Service Graph environment. You must enter this token during the installation to register the agent with your organization.
            6. Download the discovery agent based on the operating system where you want to install the agent.
              For macOS and Linux, the agent package includes command-line installation steps. The commands are shown in the Install Using Command Line section.
            7. On the host machine, open the downloaded installation file.
            8. In the installation wizard, accept the terms and conditions, and select Next.
            9. Enter the registration token you copied earlier, and select Next.
            10. Complete the installation and close the installation wizard.

            The agent is installed on the host machine and begins running in the background. Asset data is automatically reported to CMDB by the agent based on the configured scan frequency.
