Share a Chatter Post with a Chatter Group

You can share posts with public Chatter groups and groups that you’re a member of. You can’t share a post to a private Chatter group that includes external users. You can share public posts, but you can’t share feed tracked items and custom feed items, like approvals, dashboard snapshots, or case interactions. You can’t share posts with archived or unlisted groups or private groups that include external users. A post’s comments aren’t shared. But the shared post links back to the original, where comments are available. In Salesforce Classic, files attached to the shared post are included, but in Lightning Experience, attached files aren’t shared.

You can share a post with your followers and with a group. The posts you share with your followers appear in your profile feed.

Note The sharing email notification setting applies only to posts shared in Salesforce Classic. If notification for sharing is enabled, when you share a post, the person who posted the original is notified. In Lightning Experience, the person who posted the original isn’t notified.

1. In your Chatter feed, go to the post you want to share.
2. Click Share.
3. From the Share menu, select A Group.
   In Lightning Experience, the option is Share with Group.
4. Enter part of the group name and select the group from the list.
5. Type a comment about the post or leave the comment field blank.
6. Click Share.
   The shared post appears in the selected group’s feed.
