Emissions targets are goals or objectives that you can set for your organization to
reduce its total carbon footprint. With emissions forecasting capabilities, you can use your own
formulas to calculate forecasts based on emissions commitments, targets, and carbon footprint
data. You can use forecasts to focus on high-emissions areas, and your sustainability managers
know which areas to target to reduce emissions.

Set Science-Based Emissions Targets Science-based targets (SBTs) are in line with the scale of reductions that the latest climate science deems necessary to keep global warming below 1.5 degree Celsius.
Why SBTi? The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a coalition between Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute, and the World Wide Fund (WWF) for Nature.
Create Emissions Reduction Commitments Create emissions reduction commitments to initiate a formal engagement with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). SBTi requires commitments to be in the form of a commitment letter. Submitting a commitment letter to SBTi indicates your company’s intent to work towards setting science-based emissions reduction targets that are in line with the SBTi’s criteria and guidelines.
Create an Emissions Inventory An emissions inventory is the accounting of emissions from a source for a certain period. Science-based targets (SBTs) are developed according to the emissions inventory of the base year, which is the year from when you want to set targets. You can create one emissions inventory record for an account for a specific year. However, you can aggregate emissions across your company’s assets and procurement activities for a year to provide the total annual emissions inventory.
Set Emissions Reduction Targets You can set quantitative targets that align with SBTi's science-based criteria to reduce your company's emissions and get closer to a net zero future.
