Configure Support for Household Accounts

Configure Support for Household Accounts

If your organization uses Case Management to deliver case management support and program benefits to a household (for example, a food bank), update the Case Management Case Plans and Client Notes so that you see the Household Account as the beneficiary of the services delivered.

Some organizations, like food banks, deliver services that benefit an entire household. One designated "client of record" accepts those deliveries on the household's behalf.

Update the Case Management Case Plans and Client Notes so that you see the Household Account as the beneficiary of the services delivered via the Case Management app. If your organization uses Case Management to deliver case management support and program benefits to a household (for example, a food bank), there are a set of configurations for you to put in place to indicate the relationships between Household Accounts and Case Plans, and Household Accounts and Program Engagements and Services.

  • Add Accounts to Case Plans
If your organization uses Case Management to deliver case management support and program benefits to a household (for example, a food bank), add the Account to the highlight panel of the Case Plan.

Add Accounts to Case Plans

If your organization uses Case Management to deliver case management support and program benefits to a household (for example, a food bank), add the Account to the highlight panel of the Case Plan.

If your organization uses Case Management to deliver case management support and program benefits to a household (for example, a food bank), it is helpful to see the Account in the highlight panel of the Case Plan. This is really the only way to have visibility on the Account in Case Plans. The Case Plan Wizard only supports Contacts, not Accounts.

To add Accounts to the highlight panel in Case Plans, create a new custom formula field called Household Account and edit the Case Plan object's compact layout. For information on creating formula fields, see the Create Formula Fields unit in Trailhead.

  1. Click Setup gear icon, then click Setup.

  2. Click the Object Manager tab.

  3. In the list of objects, click Case Plan.

  4. Click Fields & Relationships.

  5. Create a new custom formula field called Household Account and define it as a text field.

  6. Set Household Account (text) = Contact__r.Account.Name in the Advanced Formula Editor.

  7. Select Treat blank fields as blanks.

  8. Save the Household Account formula field.

  9. In the left sidebar navigation, select Compact Layouts.

  10. Select Case Plan Compact Layout.

  11. Click Edit and refresh the page using Ctrl+R.

  12. Use the arrows to move Household Account from Available Fields to Selected Fields.
