Translate Your Education Cloud Data

Create translated values for fields on applications so that applicants see content in their preferred language. The system displays translated values based on each user's locale setting.

Provide translated field values for the objects used in dynamic applications so that applicants work in their preferred language. When an applicant opens the Experience Cloud site, the system checks the user's locale setting and displays translated values where available. If no translation exists for a field, the system displays the original value.

You create translated values in two ways. Enter translations directly on each record with the Translations related list, which is the fastest path for a few records. To translate many records at once, use Translation Workbench.

Data translation translates the name and description fields by default. In Translation Workbench, you can also enable translation for these field types: text, multiline text, long text area, rich text area, and URL.

Before You Begin

Translate Values on a Record

Add the Translations related list to the record pages for the objects that you translate, such as academic terms and learning programs. Then enter translated names and descriptions for each language directly on the record.

  1. In Setup, open the Lightning record page for the object that you translate, such as Academic Term.
  2. Add the Translations related list to the page, and then save and activate the page.
  3. Open a record, and in the Translations related list, add, edit, or delete the translated name and description for each language that you support.

Translate Values in Bulk with Translation Workbench

To translate many records at once, export the values from Translation Workbench, translate them, and import them.

  1. In Translation Workbench, export the records for the object that you want to translate.
  2. Translate the exported values into your supported languages.
  3. Import the translated values into Salesforce.

For applications, prioritize these objects: academic terms, learning programs, application stage definitions, and learning courses. These objects contain the names and descriptions that applicants see on the site.

Note
Note Some Education Cloud objects that support translation, including the application stage definition, don't yet appear in the object list on the Data Translation Settings page. To manage translated values for these objects, use the Translations related list on the record or use Translation Workbench.

What Applicants See

When applicants open the Experience Cloud site, the system displays translated values based on their locale setting. Translations appear in these areas of the applicant experience.

  • The Academic Term and Learning Program fields in the New Application window
  • The names and descriptions for application stages throughout the application process
  • Learning program names on application lists and details

If a translated value doesn't exist for a field in the applicant's language, the system displays the original value.
