Assign Record Types to Profiles

Depending on the version that you started with, it's possible that some record type assignments are different in your org. Make sure that these record types are assigned to the System Administrator profile, at a minimum, and repeat this configuration for other profiles as needed.

Note  Most record types are assigned by default. The Incident record type for Case is an exception.

Academic Certification

Certificate, Degree (default), Diploma

Account

Academic Program, Administrative (default), Business Organization, Educational Institution, Household Account, Sports Organization, University Department

Attribute

Credential (default), Student Characteristic

Case

Master (default), Incident (not assigned)

Faculty/Staff, Guardian, Student (default)

Course Connection

Default, Faculty, Student (default)

Credential

Badge, Certification (default), License

Customize record type assignments or add assignments to other profiles as needed.

1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Profiles, then select Profiles.

2. Click the profile to assign record types to.

3. Click Object Settings.

4. Click an object, for example, Cases.

5. Click Edit.

6. Select Assigned Record Types and Default Record Type for the profile.

7. Save your changes.

Assign Page Layouts

For objects with page layout assignments that vary by record type, and for custom objects, the default page layout assignments can require configuration. Make sure that these layouts are assigned to the System Administrator profile, at a minimum, and repeat this configuration for other profiles as needed.

Academic Certification Record Types

• Certificate, Degree, and Diploma: EDA Academic Academic Certification Layout

Account Record Types

• Academic Department, Academic Program, Administrative (default), Business Organization, Educational Institution, Sports Organization, University Department: HEDA Organization Layout

• Household Account: HEDA Household Layout

Attribute Record Types

• Credential: EDA Credential Layout

• Student Characteristic: EDA Student Characteristic Layout

Case Record Types

• Master: Case Layout

• Incident: EDA Incident Layout

Contact Record Types

• Master: HEDA Contact Layout

• Custom Contact record types: HEDA Contact Layout

Course Connection Record Types

• Default, Faculty, and Student: HEDA Course Enrollment Layout

Credential Record Types

• Badge, Certification, and License: EDA Credential Layout

Assign Compact Layouts

Make the HEDA Account Compact Layout and the HEDA Contact Compact Layout the primary compact layouts for all your record types. By default, the HEDA compact layouts aren't assigned to EDA Account and Contact record types.

1. Click , then click Setup.
2. Click the Object Manager tab.

3. In the list of objects, click Account.

4. Click Compact Layouts.

5. Click Compact Layout Assignment.

6. Click Edit Assignment.

7. From the Primary Compact Layout menu, select HEDA Account Compact Layout.

8. Save your changes.

9. Repeat these steps to assign the HEDA Contact Compact Layout to the Contact object.

That's it! You're now all set up to start using EDA.

Add Custom Fields and Picklist Values

Sometimes, you might want to add another option to an existing field.

For example, you might want to track Personal Email on the Preferred Email field, or Alternate Phone on the Preferred Email field. In those instances, first create a custom email or phone field. Then add the custom field's label as an option to the Preferred Email or Preferred Phone picklist.

Other times, you might want to use an existing but not preconfigured field as a picklist value for Preferred Email or Preferred Phone (for example, Assistant Phone). In this instance, just add the existing field label as a picklist option.
