What is Happening with .NET?

The .NET version of the foundationConnect Grantee and Reviewer Portals are being retired later this year. After October 31, 2020, the .NET portal will shut down and foundationConnect will only support organizations using Communities.

When is Salesforce Retiring .NET?

October 31, 2020. After that, the .NET server that hosts all Grantee and Reviewer Portals will shut down and any links to portals hosted on .NET will result in an error when clicked on.

Why is Salesforce Retiring .NET?

We are retiring the foundationConnect .NET portals to provide a more secure experience for grantees and grant reviewers and to focus our ongoing development efforts on the foundationConnect Communities Portal.

What is the Difference Between .NET and Communities?

The .NET Grantee and Reviewer Portals have most of the same functionality as Community Grantee and Reviewer Portals, with the exception of virus scanning for attachments (which will no longer be supported) and less flexibility to hide application data on reviewer page layouts (on our product roadmap). However, the Grantee Community ("Grantee Portal") package has several key improvements.

• An application designer to create custom applications
• Grantee budget tracking and monitoring
• Support of custom domain naming in both the Grantee and Reviewer Portals
• Ability to amend contact, organization, and request records
• Secure inbox messaging in both the Grantee and Reviewer Portals
• Custom page layout designed to create reviewer feedback forms (Reviewer Portal only)

How Does This Affect My Org and What Actions Do I Need to Take?

Customers currently using .NET for their Grantee and Reviewer Portals will need to migrate to the Communities version of these portals. Any links to the .NET portal will result in an error when clicked on after October 31, 2020.

We understand this is a big change for many organizations, and we want to make the transition to Communities as smooth as possible. We will continue to communicate with customers, host webinars, and be here for you during this transition. Here is an action plan to get you started:

1. Work with your Account Executive to get a new foundationConnect contract that includes Communities licenses. This will allow you to use Salesforce Communities and its features, which is essential to migration and continuing to use foundationConnect.

2. Update your org settings after receiving your Communities license but before installing foundationConnect. This includes:

   1. Enable My Domain.

   2. Enable Communities.

   3. If applicable:

      1. Enable Translation Settings

      2. Enable Opportunities Team Settings

      3. Create at least one Campaign record type

      4. Create at least one Account record type

      5. Create at least one Grantee Report record type

      6. Configure Sharing Settings

      7. Enable Partner Relationship Management

3. Engage with an experienced foundationConnect partners to assist with migration. We can connect you with a partner if you are not already working with one.
