Set Up a Due Diligence Process
Help grantmakers complete your organization’s due diligence process for grantseeking organizations. Use Action Plans on Accounts to define due diligence steps, related tasks, and documents to collect.
Let’s review what makes up an Action Plan.
Before a grantmaker can create Action Plans, you need to set up an Action Plan Template. Think of an Action Plan Template as the blueprint for an Action Plan, where you break down and guide your grantmaking staff through a common business process. These common processes can be captured in an Action Plan Template using Tasks and Document Checklist Items.
-
Tasks are actionable steps that need to be taken to determine if a grantseeker is eligible for funding. For example, a Task to send an email requesting Form 990s and audited financial documents.
-
Document Checklist Items, otherwise known as Verification Items, are where grantmakers define what needs to be collected about a grantseeking organization and store it. Grantmakers can track the status of documentation and verify the tax status of United States-based organizations using a Verification Check (if configured) found on the Verification Items tab on an Account record. Verification Checks are only available on Document Checklist Items. For example, when a grantmaker receives requested documentation, they can create a Verification Check from a Document Checklist Item, upload the files, and change the status to Accepted.
When you publish an Action Plan Template, grantmakers can create Action Plans from an Account record using the blueprint you created. When a grantmaker creates an Action Plan from a published Action Plan Template, they see the Tasks and Document Checklist Items you added. If you enable it, grantmakers can also add their own Tasks and Document Checklist Items to an Action Plan.
