Develop Your Own Approach to Modeling Your School

Develop Your Own Approach to Modeling Your School

Identify the best way to set up your school’s data in the K-12 Architecture Kit.

Many schools share a common approach to thinking about data, with the student at the center. This approach to data modeling is central to Education Data Architecture (EDA), which provides a common architecture for visualizing a full picture of students’ relationships and experiences—from individual relationships with people at the school and outside the school, to academics, to extracurricular activities.

EDA is designed to support the entire K-20 lifecycle. For K-12 institutions, your common use cases obviously look different than the ones from higher education. That’s where K-12 Architecture Kit comes in! We provide some pre-configured tools to help you build on top of EDA, along with a data framework that’s flexible enough for you to tailor it for your school’s and your students’ unique needs.

Our goal is to help you think about the best way to set up your own school's data in K-12 Architecture Kit. As you learn about Valley Elementary's setup, consider how your data might fit into a similar model and look for places where it might not. We'll call out different potential approaches and explain some of the considerations that go into choosing one over another.
