This article contains a summary of the EDA Hierarchy Settings in Custom Settings.

Custom Settings Reference

These settings control EDA behavior for your entire org.

EDA Hierarchy Settings

We recommend not modifying the default value from within Custom Settings. Instead, make changes in EDA Settings. In some cases (for example, when functionality that's available in Hierarchy Settings is not yet available in EDA Settings), you might need to change these values in Custom Settings. This table indicates which values you can safely change.

Note If you installed EDA before version 1.100, some of the descriptions you'll see in your org have been replaced with the updated descriptions below. You can safely update descriptions and help text directly in custom settings.
Field Description Can Admins Specify a Different Default Value?
Account Processor

ID of the default record type for Account. For example, if specifying Administrative (the recommended Account model), enter the ID of the Administrative record type for the Account object.

Multi-Address Accounts Record Types of those Accounts that should have multi-addresses enabled. No
Accounts to Delete The record types of Accounts to be automatically deleted if all their associated Contacts have been deleted. No
Admin Account Naming Format Stores the default format for Admin Account names. No
Admin Other Name Setting Stores other info about Admin Account naming format. No
Administrative Account Record Type The Account record type used for Administrative Accounts. This setting affects management of Address records and the naming format of Administrative Accounts. No
Namespace The namespace of the Gift Entry Manager managed package. No
Affiliation Record Type Enforced If enabled, an error results when users populate a Primary field on Contact with an Account that has a record type mismatch to the record type defined in EDA Settings. The Affiliation record is not created and Primary fields on Contact are not corrected. No
Affil End Date Copy from Prog Enroll Indicates whether to set the End Date of the Affiliation created with a Program Enrollment. If enabled, set the End Date to the Program Enrollment's End Date. If disabled, don't specify the Affiliation's End Date. No
Affil Start Date Copy from Prog Enroll Indicates whether to set the Start Date of the Affiliation created with a Program Enrollment. If enabled, set the Start Date to the Program Enrollment's Start Date. If disabled, don't specify the Affiliation's Start Date. No
Affil Status When Delete Prog Enroll If the related setting, Affil Delete When Delete Prog Enroll, is disabled, this setting specifies the value to set for the Affiliation's Status, when its related Program Enrollment is deleted. No
Affil Delete When Delete Prog Enroll Indicates whether to delete an Affiliation when its related Program Enrollment is deleted. If enabled, delete the Affiliation. If disabled, set the Affiliation's status to the value specified in the related setting, Affil Status When Delete Prog Enroll. No
Affil Role When Create Prog Enroll If the related setting, Affil Set Role When Create Prog Enroll, is enabled, this setting specifies the value to set for the Role on the Affiliation created with a Program Enrollment. No
Affil Set Role When Create Prog Enroll Indicates whether to specify a Role for the Affiliation created with a Program Enrollment. If enabled, set the Affiliation's Role to the value specified in the related setting, Affil Role When Create Prog Enroll. If disabled, don't specify a Role. No
Affil Status When Create Prog Enroll The value set for the Status of an Affiliation record automatically created with a Program Enrollment. No
Allow Auto-Created Duplicate Relations Auto-created Relationships are deduplicated to prevent duplication of Relationship records between Contacts. Select Allow Auto-Created Duplicate Relations to disable this behavior and allow multiple Relationships of the same type between two Contacts. No
Async Error Check Last Run The most recent execution date of the Async Job error logger. No
Automatic Household Naming If enabled, the Household name is automatically set based on the Household Name Format settings. No
Address management support for Contacts Enables multi-address functionality for Contacts. No
Default Contact Language Fluency The Fluency value automatically set on newly created Contact Language records when users set the Primary Language lookup field on a Contact. No
Disable Error Handling If selected, the custom error handling framework is disabled. No
Disable Preferred Email Enforcement When selected, the requirements for the Preferred Email field on Contact are not enforced. No
Enable Course Connections When enabled, allows users to choose the Contact type (Faculty or Student) when creating a Course Connection record. This feature requires default Contact record types to be set for active students and faculty. No
Enable Debug Select to enable debug statements in managed package code. Yes
Enable New Preferred Phone Sync Sync the Preferred Phone field to the Contact's standard Phone field and validate that the value in Preferred Phone exists and has a value. No
Error Notification Recipients Stores the type of user to send error notifications to. No
Faculty Record Type The default Contact record type for Faculty when creating a Course Connection record. No
Household Account Naming Format Stores the Household Account Naming Format. No
Household Addresses Acc Record Type The Account record type used for Household Accounts. This setting affects management of Address records and the naming format of Household Accounts. No
Household Other Name Setting Stores other info about the Household Account naming format. No
Preferred Phone Selection Select a desired Preferred Phone when the Preferred Email/Phone Data Cleanup batch job runs. No
Prevent <object name> Deletion

Prevent the deletion of the named object's records when they have related a certain type of child record. Refer to Apex Class Descriptions for EDA for details about the child record dependencies of a given object type.

Note If you enable any of the Prevent Deletion settings in Hierarchy Settings, note the following:

  • If you disable a TDTM class for an object, the associated Prevent Deletion setting will be disabled even if you try to enable it in Hierarchy Settings.

  • Disable Prevent Deletion-related settings before merging records or deleting duplicate records.

Reciprocal Method Determines the method used to generate the reciprocal relationship. Either List Setting, which uses custom settings by gender, or Value Inversion, which inverts the type if appropriate ("Parent-Child" to "Child-Parent"). No
Relationship Name Field Id This field is currently not used in EDA. No
Relationship Name Id Field Id This field is currently not used in EDA. No
Simple Address Change Treated as Update When enabled, changes to single Contact or Account address fields are treated as updates to the existing address (for example, no new Address object is created). Also causes white space and case changes to be treated as updates. No
Store Errors Enable this feature to store errors. No
Student Record Type The default record type when creating Course Connections for active students. No
Validate Program Plan for Nested PR When selected, Plan Requirements can specify either a Program Plan or a parent Plan Requirement, but not both. For example, a Plan Requirement that has a parent Plan Requirement can't also specify a Program Plan, or vice versa. If you specify both a Program Plan and a parent Plan Requirement, an error message will prevent you from saving until only one is selected. No
